Whats on the horizon for Netflix

With 2012 well underway and the Quikster (dumbest name ever) crisis wrapped up how is Netflix gearing up for the future? Are they in trouble?

This may anger a few but I have to side with Netflix in regards to the price change, but the public in general was outraged. 800,000 members left Netflix and they did not leave quietly. Does that spell the end for this great household service?

I definitely say no. Yes a lot of people left but lets look back one year ago. Netflix was only in the united states. Within the past year they have extended their reach upward to Canada as well as southward to over 30 South American countries with Netflix streaming. Now they are set to take western Europe by storm. I would be greatly surprised if they even felt the loss of those customers.

I also must admit that i admire their strong stance. Lets face it as Americans we want as much as we can possible get and will only pay 80% of what its worth. Blockbuster was forced to file for bankruptcy after we decided that we no longer wanted to pay for late fees. That means we took the company that provided decades of entertainment for us and our families and we took away 80% for their revenue.

Netflix streaming on the other hand determined to keep its eye on the horizon made an unpopular but necessary decision to stay relevant. Without revenue the content library would slowly shrink and die. Not only that but Netflix streaming has taken to producing their own exclusive content which we will see shortly.

Added functionality like adaptation to the Xbox kinect and the addition of the “Just for kids” section on the WII and apple TV is what is going to make sure this industry giant keep lumbering forward.

We shouldn’t be worrying about whether or not they will make it. We should be worried about whether or not we can afford to buy stock!
